Registration Applicants

What is the most common cause of registration being refused?

For individual registration, an applicant may be refused on grounds such as insufficient scope of experience, insufficient financial resources, failing the Board’s written assessment, and failure to provide sufficient information to satisfy the Board as to their character.

For a company or partnership the most common refusals are on such grounds as insufficient financial resources or that the supervisory arrangement does not meet the prescribed requirements of the Builders' Registration Act 1939

Generally it will take 4-8 weeks to process an application for registration prior to presentation to the Board if all the required information is provided.  On receiving an application for registration the processing officer will analyse the documentation provided and, if necessary, request additional information and arrange any assessments to be undertaken by the applicant.

The Board usually meets on the last Wednesday of each month.  Written notification is sent to applicants within one week of the Board's decision.
